Cindy: Luke 1:1-4

S - Many have undertaken to compile a narrative about the events that have been fulfilled among us, just as the original eye witnesses and servants of the world handed them down to us.  It also seemed good to me, since I have carefully investigated everything from the very first, to write to you in an orderly sequence most honorable Theophilus, so that you may know the certainty of the things about which you have been instructed. - Luke 1:1-4
O - "the events that have been fulfilled among us" - Jesus fulfilled the prophecies of the Old Testament.  Luke investigated everything very carefully and wrote them down so that Theophilus would know the certainty of the things he had been taught.
A - To carefully investigate the Word - I need to do more of that! I need to dig deeper in Scripture and remember Scripture references so that I not only grow deeper but that I can also be better equipped when counseling, discipling, or teaching my girls.  I want to be to my girls like Luke was to Theophilus.  I want my girls to know with certainly and clarity the things they've been taught. I don't want to add to the confusion.  The Bible is very clear and direct and never contradicts itself.  I want to be a better communicator of the Word of God!
P - Lord thank you for Your Word that leads, guides, and instructs us.  Help me be a diligent student of Your word. Help me communicate your word clearly!

Karlyn: Luke1:1-4

S - Luke 1:3-4  Having carefully investigated everything from the beginning, I also have decided to write a careful account for you, most honorable Theophilus, so you can be certain of the truth of everything you were taught.

O&A - Luke did what I need to do more often, investigate the truth so that he and others can be certain of it.  We've seen a lot lately in the media and on talk shows people that have an agenda to ruin farmers.  They report statistics that aren't true or are half truths and then they get the whole country riled up.  If people would seek out the truth instead of just taking one report for truth our country would be in much better shape all around.  This is so true in my spiritual heart.  I have to seek out truth.  I can't just listen or read something and take someone's word for it.  I have to compare it to the truth of God's word to see if it meets the standard.  I'm grateful for Luke's example of investigating and then reporting the truth.

P - Lord thank you for knowing we would need your word to give us the truth we need every day.  Help me to be more disciplined at making your word the complete standard for my heart.
