S - Beloved, let us love one another for love is from God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love. By this the love of God was manifested in us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
O - We love because God loved us first. He is our example.
A - I love that line, "the love of God was manifested in us." Manifested seems like such a big, overflowing, full of good stuff word. Like it just fills up a room. I want to love others so that they see Jesus. I want them so overcome by His love that they accept Him and become one of His children.
P - Lord thank You for Your example of how we are to love. Thank You for showing us examples in Your Word of how to love even when it's tough. Thank You for loving me even when I am not lovable. I love you!
