S- Titus 3:4-5 "But when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared, He saved us, not on the basis of deeds,which we have done in righteousness but according to His mercy by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior..."
Titus 3:14 "Our people must also learn to engage in good deeds to meet pressing needs, so that they will not be unfruitful."
O- Deeds are mentioned in v. 1, v. 5, v. 8, and v. 14. It is interesting that Paul continually urges the readers to be ready to do good deeds in these verses. Then in verse 5 he says very plainly the "He saved us, not on the basis of deeds...but according to His mercy." One more place it is written rather plainly.
A- Good Deeds...I need to be ready to do good deeds so I will not be unfruitful and I like the way he say in v. 14 to meet pressing needs. Sometimes those are the ones I have the most trouble with because I want to sit and think about it before I act instead of just acting because I am being compelled by Love.
P- Lord, May my eyes be open to opportunities I have to do good deeds, so that you may be glorified in me. Help me to pay attention and meet the pressing needs of those around me.
I realize that the prayer above may just rock my world! I sure hope I'm ready.
