Philemon
S – So if you consider me a partner, accept him as you would me. And if he has wronged you in any way, or owes you anything, charge that to my account. I, Paul, write this with my own hand: I will repay it. Philemon 17-19
O – Paul shows compassion and personal sacrifice on Onesimus’ behalf in his letter to Philemon. Paul not only wants to help Onesimus and Philemon to be reconciled, but Paul also takes on the debt of Onesimus. Paul didn’t have lots of money nor a job that could provide the money; he was in prison. However, Paul didn’t let his circumstances keep him from being generous.
A – I am humbled at Paul’s actions. I have to ask myself, “Are there times when I could give but don’t because I am too wrapped up in my own circumstances that I miss the opportunity to worship through sacrificial giving?”
P – Lord, everything I have is Yours and it is because of Your blessing that I even have these things. Help me to not be selfish, but to give generously to help a brother or sister in Christ.
