James 5
S – Brothers, take the prophets who spoke in the Lord’s name as an example of suffering and patience. See, we count as blessed those who have endured. You have heard of Job’s endurance and have seen the outcome from the Lord. The Lord is very compassionate and merciful. James 5:10-11
O – I have been reading Jeremiah the last few weeks, so when I read these verses in James, it reminded me of the reading I have been doing. Jeremiah, along with the other prophets, endured much. Recently, I have been thinking about the hardships theses people endured. The ministry of the prophets was hard! They were ignored, persecuted and suffered immensely. However, even in the mist of hardship and discouragement, the Bible calls them blessed because they endured. It’s good to be reminded of God’s faithfulness in the mist of hard times. The Lord is very compassionate and merciful, praise the Lord!
A – I am encouraged to NOT be discouraged. Praise the Lord that He knows the outcome and is in control of it all! Reminder: Press on – Endure!
P – Pray that I will find my strength in the Lord and to be encouraged that the outcome is the Lord’s hands.
