Cindy - Titus 3

Titus 3
S – Remind them to be submissive to rulers and authorities, to obey, to be ready for every good work, to slander no one, to avoid fighting, and to be kind, always showing gentleness. Titus 3:1-2
O – These verses are a reminder of what Christians are to be doing. We are to be submissive to those over us, to authorities. To be submissive requires humility. We are to be obedient and “ready for every good work”. Being ready does not mean I need to do some things first, or that I have to be convinced that I need to do this, or even to just sit around and think about doing it or not. Being ready is just that… prepared, equipped and geared up to do every good work. He has even given us what we need so that we will be equipped and ready to do what He has asked us. God is in-to details. He knows what we need and when we need it. God has given us what we need for EVERY good work. He is in control of every situation. There is not a situation that overwhelms God! What a comforting fact that gives peace of mind!
Paul then gives two things that we should not do: slander and fight. Avoiding these things will help promote unity within the body. Next, Paul gives two things that we should do: be kind and always show gentleness. Kindness and gentleness are fruits of the Spirit. They also reflect the love of Christ. Being kind and always gentle will require showing grace and mercy to others.
A – I want to always be ready for what God has for me. This means for me to stop being a procrastinator and to have confidence in the Lord to do what He has asked me to do. I cannot let my own shortcomings prevent me from being obedient. I must act knowing my confidence and strength is in Christ!
P – Lord, thank You for showing mercy and grace to me. Help me to reflect You in my actions. Lord help me to be gentle and kind so that others may come to know You. I pray that You would continue to work in me, making me ready and equipped to do Your good works. Thank You.
