Titus 2
S – In the same way, older women are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not addicted to much wine. They are to teach what is good, so they may encourage the young women to love their husbands and to love their children, to be self controlled, pure, homemakers, kind and submissive to their husbands, so that God’s message will not be slandered. Titus 2:3-4
O – Level headed, worthy of respect, sensible, and sound in faith, love, and endurance are the things that were listed under older men that “in the same way” are applicable to older women. I love that these verses remind us that, as women, we are setting an example for younger women to follow. However, we are not only setting an example by what we do because younger women are watching, but we are to be actively teaching them, instructing them, discipling them, mentoring them. We are to encourage them to be godly women and teach them what that looks like.
On the flip side, since we are not that old :), we are to be instructed by older women also. As we invest in the lives of younger women, we need older women investing in us.
A – I am very involved in investing in the lives of teenagers. However, the need is great!! Do any of you want to move to FL and help? :)
These verses are good in that it shows me I am only doing half the part. I do not have anyone investing in me, in a mentor/discipleship type of relationship. I have thought about it for a while (ok, so for the last several years) but I have not acted on it. I think partly because I don’t know who to ask...and then I get overwhelmed.
P – Lord, help me to be obedient to Your Word. Give me wisdom as I invest in others. Help me to be the things of Titus 2. Lord direct me in knowing who to ask to mentor me and give me the courage to do it.
